Frequently Ask Questions
There’s white stuff floating on top. Is that mold?
You may see white residue floating on top of the tonic. This is a normal formation of lactic acid bacteria which is completely safe for consumption.
How do I know if it’s expired or gone bad?
Microcosmo is a living ecosystem and is incredibly resilient. It’s very rare that it goes bad, but if it does you’ll definitely know it, because it will smell like death and stinky feet. It’s an unmistakably icky smell.
Can I take too much?
Yes! You can overdue it with any and all probiotics. Just as too much sugary kombucha can eventually give you candida, excessive consumption of any probiotic can eventually be problematic. Taking Microcosmo or any probiotic at high daily doses for over a year can potentially give you Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth aka SIBO
You also don’t want to take too much at once. We recommend you start with 1/2 tbsp and slowly work up to a full table spoon as your digestive system acclimates.
However, if you’re feeling really really sick, you can take 1 dose then wait an hour and take another dose.
I didn’t read the instructions and drank the whole bottle! What do I do?
That was silly of you! The instructions clearly state that you should only take 7ml (1/2 tbsp) at a time. We cannot give you any clinical advice, but we can say that while taking too many probiotics is not an ideal situation, it’s not the end of the world. You’re going to poop a lot and you may even potentially vomit, but it will pass and you’ll definitely feel cleaned out after. You should seek out emergency medical help if at any point you start feeling dehydrated or unsafe.
